Sabio Vasquez is the General Manager of the Mountain View Tied House. He has been with the Tied House Family for 10 years. Sabio came from our San Jose location and has many fresh ideas to serve you better in Mountain View. Sabio is originally from the Houston area, and still roots for many of the home teams. He is also a diehard bay area sports fan, and supports many local teams. Please call on him to help plan your next party - anything from a family gathering to a corporate event. Cheuck Tom -The "original"
TIED HOUSE BREWMASTER - was born and educated in Hong Kong and has a degree
in Chemical engineering from the National Sun Yai Sen University in China.
After emigrating to the U.S., Cheuck Tom obtained a
diploma in Brewing Technology from the Siebel Institute of Technology in Chicago (1967) and completed studies
with Dr. Joseph Owades at the center of Brewing Studies in Miami. In addition, he has attended
many seminars in management and brewing over the years. Cheuck is a member
of the American Society of Brewing Chemists, The Master Brewers Association
of America, and the Institute of Brewing (U.K.) Cheuck joined San Miguel
Brewing Company in Hong Kong as Chief Chemist for fourteen years, then as
Brewer / Assistant Brewmaster for two years, and finally as Brewmaster from
1967 to 1980. In that capacity, Cheuck was fully responsible for all phases
of beer production from raw material handling to bottling operation.
From 1980 to 1986,
Cheuck served as Brewmaster at Anheuser Busch in Los Angeles. He was in
charge of brewing, fermentation and finishing of their beer.
He developed all the
initial recipes for our beer, five of which have won national awards at the
Great American Beer Festival in Boulder, CO. (AMBER: Bronze medal 1988 and
Silver 1989; WHEAT: Bronze medal 1990; DRY: Silver medal 1991; DARK: Gold
medal 1991; PASSION PALE: Gold Medal 1992.) Cheuck Tom passed away in late
1993. Cheuck has left behind a legacy of high standards and a commitment to
excellence. To this day a large part of Cheuck's experience is carried on
as evident in the continued record of consistency and award winning quality
of Tied House beers.
Dr. Ronald M.
Manabe
oversees the overall brewing operations for the Tied Houses. He was part of
the founding partners who started the original Tied House in Mt. View. Ron
worked closely with Cheuck Tom on the original formulations of the Amber,
Dark or Brown Ale and the Pale Ale. Ron has a Ph.D. in chemistry. He has
worked for many years in the analytical instrumentation field. Following in
the footsteps of our founding Brewmaster Cheuck Tom, Ron is also a graduate
of the Siebel Institute of Technology Diploma Course on brewing science. He
is also a member of the Master Brewers Assoc. of the Americas. Look for new
and exciting special brews to be offered by the brewing team at the Tied

Silvestri Fortis joined the Tied House Staff
in 1996 as a utility brewer in our Alameda Brewery. There he has worked
hard with the other brewing staff to learn all of the procedures to
continue the production of the excellent fresh beers that has become the
trademark of the Tied House. He has transferred to our Mt. View location to
become the lead brewer. He has quickly adapted and has brought a good work
ethic and organization to Mtn. View. Look for great things from him as his
experience grows.
